Named after Dr. Allen Whipple, the Whipple procedure is a complex surgical treatment for management of tumors in the pancreas. Whipple procedure is typically done for patients with pancreatic cancer located in the head of the pancreas and some studies show that the procedure is best performed at hospitals that perform more surgeries per year.
