Panceatic cancer is a malignant tumor in the pancreas gland located behind the stomach.
Henry Ford surgeons attack the pancreatic cancer differently with better outcomes.
When a patient is given a diagnosis of pancreatic cancer, the survival rates vary based on the type of cancer in the pancreas. Not all cancers of the pancreas are adenocarcinoma; the patient could have other types of masses including neuroendocrine tumors, periampullary tumors and cystic lesions. Many types of pancreatic cancer are highly treatable. Members of pancreas surgery service have performed several hundred pancreas operations in Michigan. Henry Ford Hospital meets the Leapfrog Group's (www.leapfroggroup.com) recommended quality and safety criteria for pancreatectomy (surgical removal of the pancreas) and receives Health Grades highest rating of 5-stars (www.healthgrades.com) for complex gastrointestinal operations and procedures.
