Henry Ford Maplegrove Center

For more than 25 years, Henry Ford Maplegrove Center has been nationally recognized for excellence in addiction treatment for adults, adolescents and their families. Maplegrove has been named one of the top 100 centers for addiction care in the United States.

Located in West Bloomfield on a peaceful, wooded setting, the 50-bed residential center was opened in February 1981 with a dedication by Former First Lady Betty Ford. More than just bricks and mortar, Maplegrove is a place where people help people and where people learn to help themselves.

To date, more than 40,000 people have been treated at Maplegrove. Our caring, knowledgeable and experienced staff can assist patients take the first steps toward establishing recovery from addiction.

Our Philosophy
Maplegrove views addiction as an illness. Addiction is not considered a moral issue, a matter of weak will or a question of inadequate personality. Usually, at first, inherited biological factors influence dependency. However, acquired dependency develops over time as a result of social, physical and psychological adaptation. This dependence, when unchecked, can become extensive, uncontrolled and potentially fatal. We also recognize that patients may have co-occurring disorders, such as addiction and depression, which require simultaneous treatment.

The First Step
Call (248) 661-6100. An employee in our intake department will collect the necessary information, set up an appointment for evaluation, help determine insurance coverage and the cost of treatment. If the staff at Maplegrove believe we can not provide the service you need, we will refer you to a hospital, clinic or clinician who can.

Evaluation
The purpose of an evaluation is to assess the presence and progression of addiction, other mental health disorders, and to make recommendations for the most effective intensity, setting and location for care. This is accomplished with a comprehensive diagnostic interview. We encourage families to participate in all evaluations, and require it when adolescent patients are involved. At the end of the interview, the clinician will share their diagnostic impression and recommendations for care.
