The most heavily used materials in the Conrad R. Lam Archives are its photographs. There are more than 10,000 in the collection, dating from as early as 1909 right up to the present. These photographs are used continually in print publications as well as in video productions. View some of our most frequently requested photos. You can also place an order for a photo print.
In addition, the Archives also has a collection of more than 1,200 videotapes documenting surgeries and medical procedures, demonstration presentations, and various education, philanthropical and social events connected with HFHS. These videos date from about 1985 forward.
Our more than 440 films are primarily teaching films, produced at Henry Ford Hospital to demonstrate a specific surgical procedure or the protocol for a particular medical therapy. Many of them relate to ophthalmological surgery, abdominal surgery or thoracic surgery. The earliest of these was made in the early 1950s.
