Patients will find a team of nationally-recognized clinicians and researchers to provide advanced radiation therapy at Henry Ford.
Henry Ford's program is designed to an individual's specific medical needs throughout the entire course of their treatment. Patients will find that they receive care from a team of professionals from 20 specialties whose capabilities reach beyond the scope of radiation oncology to fight a variety of cancers.
Members of the Radiation Oncology department continually strive to provide patients with the best possible treatment by actively pursuing new options and special procedures to complement current radiation therapies. In many instances, Henry Ford has been one of the first and only health centers in the region to offer these treatments, such as Novalis Stereotactic radiosurgery for extra-cranial tumors.
The program's highlights include:
Henry Ford was the first hospital in the world to treat spine tumors with image-guided shaped beam radiosurgery and continues to be a leader in refining this technology for beating cancer.
A team of clinicians meet each week to discuss complicated spine tumor treatments for patients.
Experimental gene therapy for prostate cancer in combination with intesity-modulated radiotherapy (which precisely targets cancer but protects the surrounding organs) is now being tested with patients.
