We have currently received ACGME approval for up to 6 Anesthesiology residents in CA-1-3 years to assist with relocation of those residents whose training is otherwise affected by hurricane Ike.

The Department of Anesthesiology offers 12 positions yearly for our ACGME accredited four-year residency program that fulfills all requirements for certification by the American Board of Anesthesiology (ABA) and is supported by Henry Ford Health System, one of the largest and most respected integrated health care delivery systems in the country.

Our residents utilize the latest technology and learn from a highly skilled clinical staff at Henry Ford Hospital, a nationally renowned specialty care, teaching and research institution that is the flagship of Henry Ford Health System. Henry Ford Hospital is a unique educational institution that is affiliated with the Wayne State University School of Medicine. Our faculty and residents are actively involved in teaching medical students.

With more than 50,000 surgical procedures performed at Henry Ford Hospital and Health Network each year involving all major subspecialties, we provide our residents with a wealth of clinical training. To further enhance the resident's clinical experience, we offer state of the art facilities and the most cutting edge technology available, from the Operating rooms, to the ICU's to the newly inaugurated Simulation Center -just one of the benefits of having the organizational and financial support of a large integrated health system. Our residents also benefit from being exposed to a wide variety and number of procedures, as our hospital serves patients from the city of Detroit as well as the surrounding suburbs. This provides an exceptional environment for learning because of the multiple populations we serve and the breadth of experience they provide.

The Department of Anesthesiology at Henry Ford Hospital offers experience in a wide range of surgical specialties and subspecialties, including a high-risk obstetrical service, an organ transplantation service (heart, lung, liver, pancreas and kidney), and a busy acute and chronic pain management service.  Pediatric anesthesiology experience is acquired through our affiliation agreement with Children's Hospital of Michigan, which is located on the Wayne State University Campus within minutes of Henry Ford Hospital.

One of the greatest strengths of our program is the commitment to excellence of our staff. Our faculty members provide residents with specialty training and expertise in all aspects of anesthesia care. Our faculty is committed to providing the very best in resident education, including preparation for the certifying exam offered by the ABA. With faculty actively involved in the examination process, we ensure that our residents are fully prepared for their board certification exams. In short, training at Henry Ford Hospital allows residents to learn from the very best minds of medicine.

Working with physicians that are national leaders in both organized medicine and medical education enables our residents to succeed however they choose to apply their training. Whether in private practice, group practice, or full-time academic practice, our residents are fully prepared to be successful anesthesiologists.
