Henry Ford Presents Hot Topics in Women's Health

WEST BLOOMFIELD - Henry Ford West Bloomfield Hospital invites the public to attend the spring season of "Hot Topics in Women's Health", a series of free seminars on important medical issues.  Featuring Henry Ford physicians and experts, all programs meet from 6:30 - 8:30 p.m. at Henry Ford West Bloomfield Hospital, 6777 W. Maple, between Drake and Halsted Roads, in West Bloomfield.

Wednesday, April 22
• Cancer: Is it in the genes? - Geneticist Xia Wang, M.D., Ph.D., genetic counselor Kathryn Biro, M.A., CGC, and radiation oncologist Kenneth Levin, M.D., will talk about how genetics can contribute to a cancer diagnosis.

Monday, April 27
• Heart Health: Do you know your numbers? - Nurse practitioner Diane Klingler, MSN, ANP-BC, will show how to reduce the risk of heart disease with regular screenings, the importance of knowing your numbers, and living a heart-smart life.

Monday, May 11
• Skin Cancer Before and After the Diagnosis - Dermatologists Linda Stein Gold, M.D., and David Kouba, M.D., will discuss treatment options, from laser procedures to Mohs surgery.

Tuesday, May 26
• Achy Back? - Spine surgeon Christopher Hulen, M.D., will review types and causes of back pain and give tips on easing and preventing symptoms.

Thursday, May 28
• Bladder Health: You are not alone - Gynecologist David Richardson, M.D., will discuss types and causes of incontinence, as well as surgical and non-surgical methods to prevent and reduce symptoms.

Monday, June 1
• Joint Replacement in Women - Orthopaedic surgeon Robb Weir, M.D., will talk about joint replacement surgery.  More than 60 percent of these procedures are performed on women, since arthritis is more common in females.

Tuesday, June 2
• Better Sleep, Less Stress - Sleep disorder specialist Meeta Singh, M.D., and behavioral health therapist Karen Copeland, R.N., ACSW, will share helpful tips to reduce stress and improve sleep.

All programs will be held in the lower-level conference room.  Light refreshments will be provided.
