Patients have options when it comes to softening the undesired changes that can occur from aging. These options range from the traditional surgical facelift to new non-surgical options like fillers, botox, chemical peels, and personalized skin care regimens.
Henry Ford plastic surgeons are skilled in all the surgical and nonsurgical techniques available for facial rejuvenation.
Facelift - As we age, the supporting structures of the face become lax which contributes to loss of cheek volume, deep folds along the nose, jowling or excess skin and fat along the jaw line. Surgical correction repositions the cheek fat, softens the folds as well as improves the contours of the jawline. This type of surgical correction depending on the patient's skin and tissues may last for several years.
Henry Ford's surgeons have performed hundreds of facelifts over years and bring skilled hands and experience to each patient.
Facial Implants - Facial aesthetics are directly related to facial proportions. By careful selection of cheek or chin implants, the bony framework of the face can be permanently enhanced. Increasing the chin or cheek can help balance a slightly large nose or create a wider (or narrower) face. Implants can also be inserted onto the nose, forehead and jawline to create facial harmony.
Dermal Fillers - This non-surgical treatment softens fine lines and wrinkles around the nose and mouth, lower eyelid, and enhances the lips. A variety of fillers are available that offer temporary correction lasting four to six months and some for several years.
Nose Reshaping (Rhinoplasty) - One of the oldest cosmetic procedures, rhinoplasty is a surgery that corrects deformities of the nose such as a hump, or a broad tip. This surgery can also be performed in combination with placement of a chin implant in order to create more facial harmony.
Eye Lift (Blepharoplasty) - This surgery may be performed on the upper or lower eyelids. Excess skin on the upper eyelid, can impair peripheral vision. It can contribute to a "tired" appearance. This excess skin can be caused by age, but also by certain medical conditions. Your eyebrows also may sag or droop, worsening the heaviness of the upper eyelid.
The lower eyelid can also change with time. They may become "droopy" or "baggy." This can be caused by bulging fat pockets, or excess skin under the eye. Aging can cause changes around the eye, but also these can be hereditary or from certain medical conditions.
Aesthetically, such conditions may detract from the overall attractiveness of your eyes and cause a "tired" or older appearance. Our surgeons can improve appearance of your eyes, restoring a more youthful you by lifting the lid and restoring its natural shape.
Ear Pinning (Otoplasty) - Ear surgery, or otoplasty, is a procedure to correct prominent ears, setting them back closer to the head or to reduce the size of large ears. This surgery is typically performed on children prior to starting school, but can be performed at any school age child or adult.
