DETROIT – The Commission on Cancer of the American College of Surgeons has granted three-year approval with commendation to the Josephine Ford Cancer Center at Henry Ford Hospital.
Only one in four cancer programs at hospitals across the United States receive this special approval. The recognition was received following an on-site evaluation by a physician surveyor during which Josephine Ford Cancer Center demonstrated standards that represent the full scope of the cancer program.
Standards include cancer committee leadership, cancer data management, clinical services, research, community outreach and quality improvement.
Approval by the Commission on Cancer is given only to those facilities that have voluntarily committed to providing the highest level of quality cancer care and that undergo a rigorous evaluation process and review of their performance.
