Orthopaedics and Rehabilitation

At Henry Ford Wyandotte Hospital all of our board-certified fellowship-trained orthopaedic physicians have had extensive training in addition to medical school.

The department specializes in sports medicine, diseases of the spine, scoliosis, joint replacement, shoulder, hand and upper extremity problems. This includes treatment of broken bones, dislocations, arthritis, tendon, muscle and nerve problems, by surgical and non-surgical techniques, as well as problems of the ankle and feet.

Henry Ford Wyandotte Hospital orthopaedic specialists are on the cutting edge. Proof of this is their recent use of a new technology that will revolutionize the way hip replacements are done. The two-incision minimally invasive total hip replacement surgery was first performed at Henry Ford Wyandotte Hospital on May 1, 2004.

Unlike typical hip replacement, muscles are not taken off the joint. There is less damage to the muscles which makes for a quicker recovery. Patients are walking without a limp and are resuming most normal activities in two weeks time. They are usually in the hospital for only a 24- to 48-hour stay.

Whether you’re an elderly or pediatric patient if you need treatment of any part of the muscoskeletal system you are a good candidate to see a Henry Ford Wyandotte Hospital Orthopaedic doctor. This includes disorders of the bones, joints, muscles, ligaments, tendons, nerves and skin.
