HeartSmart® is a nutrition education program designed to prevent and control heart disease and other chronic illnesses. The recipes included in the HeartSmart® Recipe Box have been developed by our HeartSmart® dietitians and meet the American Diabetic Association and the American Heart Association's dietary standards.
The Heart Smart® program promotes a heart healthy lifestyle. It aims to reduce risk factors for heart disease which are controllable such as blood cholesterol levels, obesity and blood pressure with a comprehensive program of information, resources and services that include:
Cookbooks packed with easy-to-make, healthy recipes. The cookbooks are produced in cooperation with the Detroit Free Press and have sold more 100,000 copies nationally.
