Dobutamine Echocardiogram

A Dobutamine Echocardiogram is used when a patient is unable to walk on a treadmill sufficiently. During this test, a medication call Dobutamine is given through an IV site to stimulate the heart and make it "think" it is excercising. Meanwhile, images are taken using sound waves to evaluate your heart and valve function.

If Dobutamine does not cause the heart rate to increase, then Atropine will be administered.
