Organic Food Specialties, Exquisite Wines Make for a Delightful Vin Voyage
WATERFORD - Reaching for new heights in wine and food harmony, the fund-raiser Vin Voyage will pair an exquisite selection of international wines with locally-grown organic food against the backdrop of an airport hanger transformed into its very own lush vineyard.
For the second consecutive year, Henry Ford Health System is partnering with Michigan's only three Master Sommeliers - Madeline Triffon, Claudia Tyagi and
Ron Edwards - to plan this unique end-of-the-summer event to be held from
7 to 11 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 25 at the Oakland Air at McInerney Center at
Oakland County International Airport in Waterford.
Triffon, of Southgate, is the wine director at Matt Prentice Restaurant Group; Claudia Tyagi, of Roseville, is a wine educator and consultant; and Ron Edwards, of Charlevoix, is director of education at the Grapevine School of Wine.
Proceeds benefit research and treatment for the prevention and cure of cardiovascular diseases at Henry Ford's Heart & Vascular Institute, one of the nation's top cardiology centers.
For the first time Vin Voyage will feature all Michigan-grown organic food at its six international food stations to be prepared by the Matt Prentice Restaurant Group. More than 150 wines will be offered, carefully chosen to specifically compliment the array of American, Asian, French, Greek, Italian and Spanish dishes.
Event co-chairs for Vin Voyage are Deborah Berger of West Bloomfield and Carl and Julia Camden of Bloomfield Hills.
Judie and Roger Sherman of Bloomfield Hills will be honored during the evening for their longtime support of the Heart & Vascular Institute.
At Vin Voyage, guests arriving to the 22,000-square-foot airport hangar, located at 6740 South Service Drive off westbound M-59, will be offered a taste of French champagne. The atmosphere will be enchanting and they'll soon forget that airplanes are actually stored there. Of course, an airport hangar wouldn't be a hangar without airplanes, so a handful of vintage and modern aircraft will be on public display.
Attire for the event is summer cocktail.
Vin Voyage will culminate with a special afterglow, featuring a splendid dessert bar and fine dessert wines and live performance by the Duane Parham Band.
Tickets to Vin Voyage are $150, $250 and $500, and may be purchased by calling (313) 874-4088 or online at www.henryford.com/wine.
