The success of Henry Ford Health System, founded as Henry Ford Hospital in 1915, would not have been possible without generous support of Henry and Clara Ford and their family. The Ford family contributed the funds that were used to build and equip the buildings and staff the hospital. In the early years, the Ford family helped the hospital keep its doors open by reimbursing the hospital for any losses accumulated throughout the year. This tradition of philanthropy continues to this day. Philanthropic gifts have helped to establish Henry Ford Health System as a national leader in health care.
The mission of Henry Ford Health System's Office of Philanthropy is to secure charitable resources to improve lives through excellence in the science and art of health care and healing.
By increasing individual, corporate and foundation charitable donations that benefit health system initiatives, the Office of Philanthropy supports Henry Ford's vision to provide patients the quality care and comfort we want and expect for our families and ourselves.
We accomplish this when we engage volunteers, stakeholders, medical and administrative staff as potential and retained donors and seek their counsel during the identification, education, cultivation and solicitation of additional philanthropic prospects. Our objective is to build long-lasting relationships that honor donor interests and commitments. We engender loyalty through the thoughtful recognition and stewardship of gifts of both time and riches.
Our Team
Henry Ford's 35 philanthropy team members are led by Senior Vice President, Gary E. Rounding.
