Upcoming Henry Ford Benefit Events

'Extreme Challenge' Fundraiser Benefits Henry Ford's Pediatric Hospice Program For those looking to balance the food filled holiday season with hearty exercise, Henry Ford Health System is holding the 3rd annual Extreme Challenge, while raising money for its Pediatric Hospice Program.

The event will be held 8:30 a.m. -12:30 p.m. Saturday, December 18,. at the William Clay Ford Center for Athletic Medicine located at 6525 Second Ave. in Detroit. The Extreme Challenge, combining 30 minutes of boot camp with 30 minutes of studio cycling, offers participants one of the most invigorating workouts ever experienced. Participants are asked to donate $10 for members of the Athletic Center and $15 for guests. They will receive an Extreme Challenge T-Shirt.

All proceeds will benefit the Henry Ford Health System Kaleidoscope Kids�(r) Program. The program provides care and support to children (pre-natal to early adult) that suffer from life-threatening illness.

The program helps children live as fully as possible, while remaining at home, surrounded by the people and things they know and love. Care is individualized, based on the child's needs, with a primary goal of offering pain management and symptom control. Kaleidoscope Kids�(r) also offers support to the family members and others who are important to the child.

Kaleidoscope Kids�(r) is part of Henry Ford Hospice Services, the largest hospice in Michigan accredited by JCAHO. In addition to Kaledoscope Kids�(r), Henry Ford Hospice also offers SandCastles, a grief support program for children and families with locations in Detroit, Southfield, Clinton Township, Rochester, St. Clair Shores, and Livonia.

The evening will include an auction, dinner and a performance by legendary pioneer of rock & roll music, Neil Sedaka.

Shoot For A Cure benefits the Hermelin Brain Tumor Center and Will Robinson Neurosurgery Fund at Henry Ford Hospital. Over the past 11 years, money raised from the event has been used to support research and treatment for neurological diseases including brain tumors, stroke, epilepsy, Parkinson's disease, spine disorders and trauma to the brain or spinal cord.

Honorary co-chairs are Pam and Mark Rosenblum, M.D. of West Bloomfield, Nancy Schlichting of Dearborn and Gail and Mark Kelley, M.D. of Bloomfield Hills. Event co-chairs are Rosalie and Joe Vicari of Clinton Township.

Dr. Rosenblum is chair of the Department of Neurosurgery at Henry Ford Hospital and co-director of the Hermelin Brain Tumor Center.

Patron tickets for the event are $175 a person; Benefactor tickets are $250 a person; All Star tickets are $500 and Diamond tickets are $1,000 per person. For more information or to make reservations call (313) 876-9259.
