In fact, more than 15 percent of all people in southeast Michigan diagnosed with cancer are treated by Henry Ford physicians.
At Henry Ford, our physicians and researchers are at the forefront in the development of medical treatment to fight cancer. Henry Ford is often one of the first and only health centers in the region to offer the latest medical treatments. Our staff is actively involved in national research studies through the Southwest Oncology Group, one of the largest National Cancer Institute-funded cancer clinical trials cooperative groups in the United States.
In addition, each patient has a team of specialists devoted to his or her case. Staff hold weekly Interdisciplinary Cancer Conferences to determine the best treatment options for each patient. At these weekly conferences, individual cases are reviewed by a team that may include surgeons, oncologists, other specialists, pathologists, dietitians, nurses and social workers – all working together to make a customized treatment plan for each patient.
